In India, it is particularly prevelant inMohammedians.Habit:- 'Adult worm lives in the small intestine of man and moves against theperistaltic movement of host's intestinc.Morphology:- Adult worm and egg.Adult worm:- It is white and semitransparent.Size:- Length: 5-10m. sometimes 24 mIt consists of :-a) Scolex:- Size :- 1-2 mm in diameterShape - Quadrate.It has four circular suckers. The head is not provided with anyrostellum or hooklets and moves against the peristaltic movement inhost's intestine.b) Neck It is fairly long and narrow about 0.5mm in width. c) Proglottides (segments) :- No. varies from 1000-2000. length ofgravid segment is 3-4 times its breadth. When relaxed the terminalgravid segment measures about 2 cm in length and 0.5 cm in breadth.➤ The common genital pore is situated marginally near the posteriorend of each segment and alternate irregularly between right and leftmargins.>The vagina is provided with a sphincter muscle.> The gravid uterus consists of central longitudinal stem with 15-30lateral branches on each side, these in turn sub branches on eachside, leaving no space in between.> The gravid segment are expelled singly and may force their waythrough anal sphincter.➤ The free gravid segment while crawling out of anal sphincteroviposits in the perianal skin.Life span - more than 10 years

These penctrate the gut wall and gain entranceinto the portal vessels or mesenteric lymphatics finally reaching systemiccirculation.>The naked oncosphere are filtered. out from circulating blood intomuscular tissue where they settle down and undergo further development.The muscles most commonly selected are those of tonguc, arm, neck,shoulder etc..> The oncosphere losses their hook on reaching their destination.> The cell in the center liquefies and in about 8 days after infection cachoncosphere forms an oval vesicle gradually increasing in size, containingat its bottom, the larva referred to as cysticcrcus.> It takes about 60-70 days for the oncospheres to metamorphos: into thecyscticercus stage.Human beings are infected through the eating of undercooked beefcontaining the cysticerci.➤Inside the alimentary canal of man, the scolex, on coming in contact withthe bile exvaginates, and anchors to the gut wall by means of its suckersand develops into an adult worm by gradual strobilisation.> The worm grows to sexual naturity into 2-3 months and starts producingeggs which are in turn passed in the faces along with the gravid segmentsthere by repeating the cycle...+++
